Workshops

HKUFI has been organizing workshops on different topics to meet the demand of the community.

Live Case demonstrations

Our Institute is renowned for its live case demonstrations. Not only do they provide an opportunity to observe and experience therapy in action at the Marriage & Family Therapy Clinic, the live case demonstrations also provide a chance for professionals from different disciplines to bring in a large variety of difficult family cases for consultation and treatment. Designed primarily for students from our academic program, the live case demonstrations are also open to professionals who are interested in taking part on a block basis. The live case demonstrations will be conducted mostly in Cantonese, with English translation available, and are held on Saturday afternoons during the school term.

Live Case Demonstrations (Spring 2012)

The Live Case Demonstration provides a rare opportunity for participants to observe and experience clinical interviews in action at the Marriage & Family Therapy Clinic.  A variety of family cases covering a spectrum of developmental issues are referred by professionals from different disciplines for consultation and treatment.  The live family interview is conducted by the Founding Director of the Institute Dr. Lee Wai-yung and other experienced clinicians.  The case formulation and reflective analysis preceding and following the demonstration will enable participants to share their experiences and insights with our trans-disciplinary team of experts in the field of psychiatry, psychology, social work, pediatrics, and family medicine.  Human service practitioners and those who are interested in the transparent process of family therapy are welcomed.  The Live Case Demonstration will be mainly conducted in Cantonese and held on Saturday afternoons.

Supervision Group in Marriage and Family Therapy

The Institute provides on-going clinical supervision for clinicians and agency administrators who are interested in pursuing an AAMFT membership. The Supervision Group aims at expanding individual style through helping the therapist become more versatile and adapt to working with diverse family systems from different social classes and service settings. Taught by Dr. Wai-Yung Lee and other AAMFT Approved Supervisors, participants are required to actively participate in clinical practice and present videotaped segments of their work for supervision.
