The fourth batch of 26 graduates (with 5 distinctions) was awarded the Master of Social Sciences in Marriage and Family Therapy on November 7, 2009. A Graduation Ceremony cum Open House to mark the 6th Anniversary of the HKUFI was held on the day.

2008
The Inauguration and Inaugural Symposium of CIFA was held on January 24 - 26, 2008." The symposium, funded by the Professional Services Development Assistance Scheme of the Commerce, Industry and Technology Bureau of HKSAR Government, attracted more than 300 local and overseas delegates.
One half-day training, "Dialogue between Clinical Practitioners and Policy Makers," sponsored by the Social Welfare Department and co-organized by HKUFI, CIFA, and HKCSS was held on September 10, 2008.
A Central Coordinating Committee (COC) Paediatrics Commissioned Training on family therapy was offered in September 2008. This course was designed to equip paediatrics staff in the adoption of a family perspective.
The third batch of 13 graduates (with 3 distinctions) was awarded the Master of Social Sciences in Marriage and Family Therapy on November 26, 2008. An Anniversary Dinner cum Graduation Celebration to mark the 5th Anniversary of the HKUFI and the graduation of our graduates was held at the Hong Kong Football Club. The event was officiated by Prof. Ian Holliday, Dean of the HKU Faculty of Social Sciences.
A one-day conference on “Strengthening Hong Kong’s Families: Embracing a Holistic Family Approach in Formulating Social Policy and Providing Social Services,” co-organized by HKU Family Institute, Central Policy Unit (CPU), and the Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies at Chinese University Hong Kong, was held on December 3, 2008. The forum, held at the Rayson Huang Theatre of HKU, was officiated by Mr. Henry Tang, JP, Chief Secretary for Administration, HKSAR, and Prof. Lap-chee Tsui, Vice-Chancellor and President, The University of Hong Kong.
To promote the importance of family cohesion and to raise funds for the HKUFI, Walk for Family 2008 was held on December 14, 2008 (Sunday) at the Tai Tam Reservoir.
A one-day forum on “Trans-disciplinary Perspective on Maintenance," co-organized by the HKUFI and the Conflict Resolution Centre (CRC), was held on December 17, 2008. The forum was funded by the Home Affairs Bureau of the HKSAR Government under the Community Involvement Project on Maintenance (CIPM) 2008/09.
2007
The second batch of 26 graduates (with 3 distinctions) was awarded the Master of Social Sciences in Marriage and Family Therapy on October 27, 2007. A Graduation Ceremony cum Open House to mark the 4th Anniversary of the HKUFI was officiated by Prof. Ian Holliday, Dean of the HKU Faculty of Social Sciences. On the occasion, a Silent Auction also took place and raised a total of HK$82,114 for the Institute.
The Consortium of Institutes on Family in the Asian Region Limited was incorporated in Hong Kong under the Companies Ordinance on August 17, 2007. The launching ceremony of CIFA Web-based Exchange Platform (WEP) cum First Announcement of Inaugural Symposium was held on June 6, 2007 at the HKUFI.
2006
The first batch of 19 graduates (with 3 distinctions) was awarded the Master of Social Sciences in Marriage and Family Therapy on November 4, 2006. A Graduation Ceremony cum Open House to mark the 3rd Anniversary of the HKUFI was officiated by Prof. Ian Holliday, Dean of the HKU Faculty of Social Sciences.
The "Conference on Strengthening Hong Kong's Families - Awareness, Commitment, and Action" marked the first collaboration with the Central Policy Unit (CPU) and Women's Commission of the HKSAR Government. The conference also positioned the HKUFI as an academic institute involved in family policy development in Hong Kong.
2005
An Open House to mark the 2nd Anniversary of the HKUFI was held on December 9, 2005. On the occasion, a Silent Auction took place and generated over HK$30,000 for the Institute.
The "International Conference on Couples" was the first large scale conference organized by the HKUFI, with funding support from the Professional Services Development Assistance Scheme of the Commerce, Industry and Technology Bureau of HKSAR Government. The conference attracted
over 300 participants from overseas and local organizations.
HKUFI was commissioned by the Social Welfare Department to conduct a series of 8 seminars on the basic understanding of family violence. This training program catered for more than 3,000 participants from various disciplines and local personnel from 8 districts all over the territory in 2005/06. The program has been most successful, receiving very positive feedback from participants who found the seminars informative and stimulating in enhancing the understanding of family violence, to facilitate trans-disciplinary collaboration.
2003
The HKUFI was officially opened by the then Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food, Dr. E.K.Yeoh, JP on October 28, 2003. Our guests of honor also included Mrs. Carrie Lam, JP, Director of Social Welfare Department, HKSAR, and Prof. Tsui Lap Chee, Vice Chancellor, HKU.
